Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Today’s fun winter card features the Baby, It’s Cold Outside stamp set from Evelin T Designs’ latest release. I just love this big illustration of a monster sledding! I haven’t been sledding in ages and the monster’s excitement makes me want to go, except I’m getting old and can’t tolerate the cold much anymore so maybe not. LOL

I started this card by selecting distress ink colours for my image. Then I stamped the images and sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I die cut the background from a retired arch die. If you’re looking for something similar, I’ve provided an alternate in the supply links on my blog.

I also stamped tiny snowflakes with Versamark Watermark ink before ink blending the background with three shades of blue distress ink. I watercoloured the image, dried it with my heat tool and fussy cut it. To create the shaker, I added acetate to the front panel and used foam tape to build walls to house the sequins and seed beads.

I love this idea for winter cards in lieu of holiday cards or in addition to Christmas cards. No doubt, this winter will feel extra long and we can all use as much happy mail as possible! I’m tempted to make a bunch of these in different colours.

All Things Grow With Love

Happy Monday! I hope you all found some time to relax this weekend. It’s definitely something we don’t get enough of and today’s card is here to remind you of that. I made this for a friend who’s about to file for divorce. Yes, in the middle of a pandemic, so it’s a good reminder to us all that other people have much heavier burdens than we do and we should count our blessings.

Here, I’m featuring the Life is Beautiful stamp set which is filled with sweet plants, room decor and a meditating girl who’s one of my most favourite Evelin T Designs images ever. Next, I created the room setting first, stamping all the paintings and little tables of succulents. Then, I water-coloured all the images with distress inks and fussy cut the two friends and popped them up on the card.

To finish, I masked off the wall and ink blended a floor and adhered some iridescent butterfly sequins to embellish the card and add some shimmer.

2020 Spring | Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop feat. Coffee Loving Critters

What’s better than coffee? Cute critters drinking coffee! In fact, Evelin T Designs has a stamp set by that exact name that has recently been restocked – the adorable Coffee Loving Critters! My card features the adorable kitty from that set, enjoying her latte in a pink mug with some catnip by her side. LOL

The sentiment is also from Coffee Loving Critters, the little plant is from All Hallow’s Cuteness and the banner is from Framed, a stamp and die set that Evelin designed for Winnie & Walter. Unfortunately, Winnie & Walter is no longer in business but you might be able to find a secondhand set somewhere out in the crafty universe.

To make this card, I used my MISTI stamping tool to stamp all the images. I created masks to protect all the images, stamping the kitty first, then the plant and finally the banner. I left the masks in place so I could ink blend the background with four Simon Hurley create inks. After blending, I splattered the background with water, white mist and shimmer mist.

I removed the masks and watercolored the images with Simon Hurley create ink refills and you can find the links to all the colours below. To finish the card, I embellished the top and bottom edges using the Essentials by Ellen Stitches Cover Plate and Stitching Lines dies. I also added enamel hearts from my stash and linked to alternates below.
